Posts: 435 (13 August, 2007 23:04) Reply Quote More My Recent Posts Message Me Connection Blocking Invite Ignore User's Posts	I just finished my fourth re-read - and I have to put it away now, it's getting ridiculous - but I wondered if anyone has spotted any more mistakes now that the series has wrapped?? ie: the order that the 'ghosts' came out of Voldy's wand etc I might have one, though it probably has a simple explanation: In 'The Ghoul in Pyjamas' Hermione tells Harry that she has modified her parents memories (p84) but in 'A Place to Hide' she says she has never performed a memory charm, but 'knows the theory'.(p139) Any more???

I am THAT obsessed. ) I mean, Tonks was looking 'radiant' and Remus was looking depressed at Harry's birthday, meaning Tonks was pregnant and they BOTH knew she was (and I'm now assuming Remus needed to be told and didn't sense it with his awesome werewolf senses or something ). She wasn't pregnancy-radiant (at least, it wasn't specifically mentioned) during the Seven Potters chapter so I'm assuming she found out in the... I dunno, couple of weeks between those two scenes? grabs book to find out how much time it was Yes I am spending this much time on a fictional character's pregnancy OK, so the Seven Potters was 4 days before Harry's birthday, not four weeks or something. Hm. July 27... Timeline! July 27: Seven Potters, nothing odd going on. July 28: Tonks: "Holy crap I'm pregnant!" Remus: "#$#%#$!!! How did THAT happen?!" Readers: "... erm." July 29&30: Remus gets depressed. July 31: Harry's birthday, Tonks is radiant, Remus is depressed. BUUUUUUT my point (I have one, yes) is that... alright. Let's just assume using contraceptives didn't cross the Lupin's mind (not even Remus "Waaaah my children will hate me!" Lupin's mind) so it wasn't some slip-up they could trace back, and wizarding pregnancies don't show the very next day... I think it would be fair to say that Tonks was AT LEAST a month and a half pregnant before she began to suspect (unless we get into all kinds of 'hey my period is late' stuff that I really don't want to think about because it's Tonks and I'm already sounding obsessed enough as it is ). So that would mean Teddy was conceived halfway through June. When did Dumbledore die anyway...? Accio Lexicon Hm. 'June 1997', doesn't help much. Alright, let's just say Tonks's pink hair at DD's funeral did come from... Remus. (Plotbunny: does pregnancy show up in the haircolour with metamorphmagi? ) Would make Remus rather out of character in my opinion, but whatever. So Teddy was conceived in HBP! Well, possibly. Let's do the math! June is the sixth month. A normal pregnancy is, at average, 9 months. So... June+6 months is halfway December, then another three months is halfway through March! Allowing for a week or two leeway, Teddy would have to have been born in late March at the very last (and yes, I did keep count, and yes, when Ron remarked in March that Tonks was getting 'pretty big' I thought "O RLY", because I am that kind of person). And yet Teddy's born in APRIL (Remus shows up 'one blustery April evening', whatever blustery means (oh, just googled it; apparently it means stormy) - incidentally the same evening Olivander leaves, but whatever). Alriiight... so it could have been early April. Perhaps. I dunno... It's just wonky. Besides, it wouldn't be the first time Jo screwed up her math! I like to think Lupin was 'hoodwinked' - Tonks got him very drunk on firewhiskey, hid any contraceptive device and, well, you know wink

Not exactly something you'd do to someone you supposedly care so much about that you " -DON'T CARE!!" that he might eat you once a month... Actually, my problem with the whole Lupin pregnancy is more personal. I don't like how quickly everything went and how dodgily it was written. Not just because I'd happily take a twelve-book series just about Remus, and he was underwritten in TDH, but also because I don't like how traditional 'let's have babies!!!1!' the wizarding world appears to be. Apparently Harry was protected from Voldemort because the dark lord had used some of Harry's blood and had thus incorpororated the charm that Harry's mum gave to him into his own (Voldemort's) body. Yet the charm and it's protection was only valid until Harry's 17th birthday. That's why he was in such grave danger and had to be removed to safety. 2. The Elder wand recognised Harry as it's true master and refused to kill him in the final duel. Yet Voldemort had already used it on Harry when he went willingly to his 'death.' Did the curse that Voldemort used to 'kill' Harry rebound back onto Voldemort at this time also? Final question - was the pitiful thing crying at Kings Cross station the part of Vodemort's soul left in his body?

It was one the Dumbledore placed on Pivet Drive...... This one worked because Aunt Petunia agreed to take Harry in, and she being a relative. 2) You could argue that the wand did follow its master's will because Harry wanted to die at that point, so therefore, the wand was following the will of its master. Final Question... I believe the bit crying on the ground at Kings Cross was the part that was in Harry, separated once Harry "Died". Posts: 435 (21 August, 2007 20:02) Reply Quote More My Recent Posts Message Me Connection Blocking Invite Ignore User's Posts	It's weird how in the later books (OotP on) when Harry uses the connection to LV's mind, he sees through LV's or Nagini's eyes, but in GoF, the dream at the beginning sees Harry viewing the scene as an observor, as he is able to see LV's form and the snake. Maybe this has been explained, I always miss these things!

He could see through Nagini's eyes because Voldemort sent his snake and it contained a piece of Voldemort's soul too. (JKR said that was why Harry could see through the snake's eyes, and why the snake was so smart and important to Voldemort, etc.) They were all connected and a piece of the same being so it'd make sense that the piece of soul inside Harry could still witness and connect to / observe the other pieces. He is connected to LV and Nagini, so of course he can see through them and all, but voldemort couldn't, say, observe harry from an outsider perspective just becuase of their connection... I don't know, it doesn't seem right. Maybe one of the other horcruxi (sounds better than horcruxes? Nt rly) were in the room? Je ne sais pas. If, for any given scenario, there are multiple probable outcomes, and one thinks of all outcomes but one, the outcome that was not considered will have the greatest probablility of becoming true.

There was no chance to help it or communicate with it, thus foreshadowing that Voldemort was unable to ever repair his soul and patch it up to make it whole like Harry and Dumbledore were. @Linda: Loved your analyzations on the whole Tonks pregnancy bit. It kind of bothered me that JKR went that route with the couple...first they're on the rocks, pretty broken up, then just barely together and then...pregnant?! Psh. I found that to be so unbelieveable. I understand why she did it, but I feel like that was such a discredit to all the angst that Lupin/Tonks went through in HBP. The trick to flying is falling and missing the ground.

Alright, there were two Horcruxes there - Voldemort and Nagini. So he could have been sort of head-hopping... Only the end of the chapter was dreamed by Harry. It's like Jo always seems to do the first chapter, not trough Harry but another character. Or his PoV changes between Nagini and Voldemort, since it's only the first time the bond between Harry and Voldie is used in this way and it's still unstable. J.K. Rowling: No! Yeah I always wondered about that part too. Maybe it was because Voldemort didn't have a whole body yet. There was a part in Deathly Hallow's when Ron says: "Oh, of course," said Ron, clapping a hand to his forehead. "I forgot we'll be hunting down Voldemort in a mobile library." (pg.95 US version) And normally Ron flips out on the other two for using Voldy's name. So unless he forgot to be scared for a moment, that might be a mistake.

He could just have put a magical thing round his thing LOL. Some sort of charm to stop....you know. They wouldn't need nasty plastic muggle things. HOWEVER,if he was drunk,as suggested,(and maybe Tonks was too),then they may well have forgotten to do that in the heat of the moment and yes,maybe wizards can find out the day after conception if they are pregnant or not. Maybe Tonks thought 'BLEEP we were really drunk last night,did we forget to put on the magical protection',(whatever that may include),so she magically checked herself using some charm or other to check if she was pregnant just in case and suddenly 'oooooo I'm pregnant,Lupin huny we're having a baby?' Lupin goes 'WTF!. No there must be some mistake. Darn how much did we have to drink,we must have forgotten to put on our them magical protection charms ' LOL. 9 months later,not too many extra days needed if my theory is correct,out pops baby Teddy Lupin. VOILA! I have solved the mystery of the previously seemingly 'long' pregnancy of Nymphadora 'Tonks' Lupin I shall have my thanks in copious amounts of Firewhiskey and Cauldron cakes please,LOL. Oh and as for lets have babies being traditional,if people didn't have babies the human race would die out silly girl si thank god or whatever that people DO still want to have babies together. People in true love often do you know It's the reason we are mostly all here. And Harry Potter is all about families and love. Hopefully when you grow up and fall in love you will want children someday also Linda but then some people simply never do I guess. CERTAINLY not the majority though. There is nothing 'traditional' about wanting and having children. It is the reason for the continued existence of humanity and always will be. It's the way the world works dear.
